First of all, dont waste your time with this place, go to Gregoires campground in wells. Nice people and sites are 3-4 times as big and actually know what customer service and morals are.
There are many campings in Wells, don't make the same mistake we did.
It appeared it was the owners and they did kick us out. They wouldn't understand that we still had time before quiet hours.
So for them, blowing the mattress was worst than the road less than a hundred yards from the site, worst than the train at 3am with the horns and the shaking ground.
As far as the camping, it is ok. People are friendly. Sites are small, but ok. The biggest problem is the bathroom. It is the dirtiest , filthiest , most unkempt of any that I have ever seen anywhere. I don't think it is ever cleaned. Cobwebs were untouched all the time we were there. The sink has holes in the porcelain and any metal parts are awful rusty.
The owner will probably write back that we can write anything on the Internet, and he's right. I should've taken a picture to prevent for others the astonishment we had when we first saw those restrooms.
I don't even know where to start with this place. We read the reviews before going and even with some bad ones and an average of 2.5 stars, we decided to give it a try.
Very family friendly, playground was great for kids may need a few touch-ups in near future bathroom and bathhouse were clean. Bathrooms near playground need few updates but we enjoyed the staff and will be returning next year (this was our 2nd year)
The restrooms...There are other comments about them and it is exactly the description. It's dirty, they don't go in there often and there is no soap. You can even look at people coming in and out of the room while sitting on the toilet.
Since we're from Canada, we arrived late (10:30pm) on a Friday night after work. The curfew was at 11pm so we installed the 3 tents in 15 minutes and started blowing 2 mattresses. While blowing the second one, a couple came to us and ordered us to shut it down and even tried to unplug the mattress, even if we told them to not touch our belongings. They didn't care if we slept directly on the ground, they just wanted us to shut everything up. We finished anyway and they threatened us to leave first thing in the morning.
We figured we would try a different place so we decided to try riverside campground. I called to reserve one of their larger tent sites because we had 2 tents to set up. We paid a $75 deposit. When we arrived they had booked our site to someone else and that we couldn't get it back and said even though it was reserved it was subject to change. So we went to gregiores, our usual campground and set up there. When we went back to get our deposit back at rivedside, the owner said we could have the original site back even though earlier the kid said we couldnt. We told her we already set up somewhere else and just wanted our deposit back. She refused to refund our money then threatened to call the police if i didnt leave. Horrible customer service and horrible people.
Nice little campground with a friendly staff, pool and lots of seasonal guest. The bathrooms could use an update and I have no towels or soap. The showers look much newer and work coin operated. Walking distance to the Maine diner. We would go back again.
